Equal Access and Respect for All
Every citizen in McDonough County deserves access to the services and protections they are entitled to. As your Sheriff, I will ensure that the Sheriff’s Office operates with the utmost regard for public integrity and transparency. I am committed to fully adhering to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and ensuring that all citizens have the access and respect they deserve. We will pull back the veil of bureaucracy, allowing the public to know exactly what we’re doing, why we’re doing it, and how they can help us in our efforts to create a safer, healthier community. Transparency breeds trust and I will make sure every resident feels empowered and informed.
Community Engagement and Partnership
Building strong, lasting relationships with the community is central to effective policing. I will host regular meet-and-greets where residents can come visit our facilities, meet the staff, and learn about our work. I want to make sure that everyone feels comfortable approaching their local law enforcement officers, knowing who is patrolling their neighborhoods and how they can access services. Additionally, I will provide opportunities for the public to engage in helpful life skills courses, such as tire-changing, dealing with traffic stops, and basic CPR, that empower residents to be more self-sufficient and prepared for life’s challenges. Community engagement is not just a job for officers, it’s a shared responsibility for all of us.
Life Guidance and Youth Services
Every resident deserves to feel cared for and supported. I will explore innovative ways to help those who are most vulnerable, from youth to the elderly, from survivors of crime to those facing
mental health challenges. I propose adding a licensed social worker to our team to assist with outreach and services that provide life guidance, crisis intervention, and support for survivors. I will also work with schools and local organizations to expand youth outreach programs, ensuring that our younger residents have the tools, resources, and mentorship they need to thrive. Everyone, regardless of background or financial means, deserves compassion and care.
Zero Tolerance for Violent Crime and Sex Crime
Violence has no place in our community, and as your Sheriff, I will enforce a zero-tolerance policy for violent crimes and sex offenses. Anyone who commits violent acts, whether against another human being or animals, will be held accountable. From domestic violence to assault, from child abuse to human trafficking, we will not tolerate such behavior in McDonough County. If you come here to harm others, you will be caught and prosecuted. I will work to ensure that victims of these heinous crimes receive the justice and support they deserve, and offenders face swift and just consequences.
Open Arms, Safe Community
One of the most important aspects of law enforcement is community caretaking, helping those who are struggling and offering support when needed. I am committed to creating a safe, open environment where anyone doing the right thing and asking for help will receive it. Whether it’s offering a ride home from the bar to prevent impaired driving, giving a lift to a job interview, or simply being there for someone in need, I want to ensure that every resident knows they can rely on their Sheriff’s Office for help. Sometimes, people just need a hand up, and that’s okay. We’re here to help, and we will help however we can.
Drug Interdiction and Interagency Partnerships
The drug epidemic is one of the most significant challenges facing our county. To combat this, I will prioritize drug interdiction efforts on our roadways, focusing on stopping drugs before they reach our streets. Through targeted patrol tactics, we will intercept drug shipments, gather
critical intelligence from suspects, and work closely with neighboring law enforcement agencies to disrupt the flow of illicit substances. By collaborating with regional agencies, we can build profiles of distributors, dismantle drug trafficking networks, and protect our community from the
scourge of addiction. Together, we can make McDonough County a no-go zone for drug dealers.
